The Casino Industry in the Philippines Opens

Must Try

The casino industry in the Philippines has faced numerous challenges recently. The country is battling an outbreak of the COVID virus, which has affected the country’s casinos. The latest outbreak has forced several casinos to close for months. In the first few days, Manila’s casinos were closed for a week because of the threat posed by the virus. In the following days, Manila casinos were allowed to reopen at seventy percent of their normal capacity.

Several foreign companies have also entered the country’s casino industry. Some of these companies are based in Las Vegas and are aiming to develop games for land-based casinos. Some have already signed agreements with the casinos, including a deal with Bloomberry Resorts Corporation to invest in its rival PH Resorts Group Holdings.

In Manila, some of the top gaming venues are the New Coast Hotel Manila, which was originally known as the New World Manila Bay Hotel. It is known for its sweeping views of Manila Bay and its consistently high standards of service. This casino has a massive lounge, numerous restaurants, and a gaming area that is a full-fledged casino. The casino also offers a variety of tournaments. Some of its most notable tournaments include the Asian Poker Championship, Metro Walk 2 Million, and RVS Cup – Philippine Poker Championship.

Before 1976, Manila had many unlicensed casinos and illegal gambling events. However, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) began regulating the industry and opening its first casino in 1977. The Manila Bay Casino is under PAGCOR regulation and is located near the Manila Bay.
